Oat with Apple and Dates

Oat is perfect for babies and it’s packed with different health benefits, according to the World Health Organization, it is one of the recommended cereals to introduce to babies. Also, it is preferable compared to rice cereal because it is rich in fibre, vitamins, proteins, minerals, calcium, and easy to digest considering babies immature digestive system. The least processed Oat is the Steel cut oat and best introduced to babies from six (6) months.

Apple contain essential Vitamins like A, B1, B2, and C and minerals such as iodine, phosphorous, iron, and calcium. These micronutrients are essential for baby’s growth and development.

Dates can also be introduced to babies by addition to their food from six months of age. It is also rich in micronutrients such as Calcium and Magnesium which are crucial for bone health as well as enhances the growth and development of babies. In addition, Potassium is also another mineral which is found in dates and is important for baby’s brain development. 

OAT WITH APPLE AND DATES

This recipe is perfect for breakfast and for babies from seven (7) months and toddler.

Equipment

  • Pot
  • Knife
  • Blender
  • Bowl

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Oats
  • 1 piece Apple
  • 2 pieces Dates

Instructions

  • Soak two (2) Tbsp of Oat in water for One (1) minute.
  • Remove the seed of the dates and soak in warm water for One (1) minute.
  • In a boiling water add the Oat and stir occasionally till its cooked (steel cut oat takes time to cook).
  • Add the apple and date to the Oat
  • Once it is tender (serve older kids).
  • Transfer into a blender and blend to the right consistency.
